ARTING About...? The 6.0 Napa Valley Earthquake: A Knockout?

by Robin Scott Peters

When I first drove in to downtown Napa I saw the Riverfront Building to my left.  It was noon.  The sky glared white-blue. Everything looked pretty normal at first.  I entered on Third St. crossed Main St. and I jumped on the first place I could park.  It was pretty busy.  I was surprised.  I thought it would be a little less active.  I surveyed the situation.  I saw this big beautiful church in front of me about three hundred yards.  It had survived the earthquake.  I passed it off as such.  I thought, "Good, hate to see the old structures go.  They survived so much."

ARTING About...? And the Grammy Goes to: David Crosby's -- "Croz"

by Robin Scott Peters

My buddy Larry, whom I have written about in past articles, I consider Guru of all that is music.  Four weeks ago he gave me a gift of his newest acquisition.  "Listen to this when you get in your truck, tell me what you think?"  I sucked down the rest of my delicious Zinfandel, took the CD and read the writing in orange Sharpie: "David Crosby -"Croz."  I looked up at Larry, shook my empty glass, and said "When did this come out?"  In the clarity of a true Guru Larry flatly spat out: "Just."   "I wonder what it sounds like?"  "That's why I gave it to you?"  "Yes, true...."   I shook my glass again and he took it; and ushered me out the front door.

ARTING About...? Sundance Film Festival or "Newbee: How A Virgin Gets Around Sundance."

  by Robin Scott Peters

"Yes, it's my first time here at Sundance," I heard myself squeak out gleefully to the young woman wearing the powder blue winter vest.  I just completed a 2000 mile journey from Providence, RI to Park City, Utah. It was January 15th, the day before the official opening of the Sundance Film Festival 2014.

ARTING About...? Andy Warhol's "Screen Tests" and Rhode Island School of Design Museum (RISD)

by Robin Scott Peters

12 degrees. I blinked rapidly in the glaring light of my IPhone 4.  The Weather Channel my favorite App, as I do travel a bit.  Need to know what tornado or blizzard I may encounter.  So cold out.  I considered not going but the sun poured into the bedroom calling me to engage my planned outing to Rhode Island School of Design Museum (RISD).
